Gift Certificates and Gift Card have one thing in common - they generate advance payments for retailers.
Hence they are quite similar except that the Gift Certificate sold must be redeemed in one purchase (any unused balance is forfeited).
Once redeemed in full or part, the particular gift certificate is deemed "USED" by the system and thus no longer redeemable.
SELLING GIFT CERTIFICATES
At the Aralco POS, simply click on the button for Gift Certificate, select an existing or create a new customer to sell the certificate for any amount. The POS will generate a unique number for the gift certificate, with the option to add the pre-printed serial number that can be used for a quick search during redemption.
A receipt is issued upon full payment and monies received for sales of gift certificates are registered as deposits and clearly listed in the EOD tape reports making it easy for accounting reconciliation.
REDEEMING GIFT CERTIFICATES
The recipients can redeem Gift Certificates at any of the retailer's store branches, or at any POS checkouts. The cashiers simply key in the pre-printed serial number under the customer account to process the redemption again purchase quickly.
Upon completing the redemption and purchase, a receipt is printed with the information of the Gift Certificate and other payments if any.
